Sports
The island counts with 8 magnificent golf courses, as well as the ideal weather conditions for practicing outdoor sports, such as surfing near La Cícer Beach, located on the wonderful urban beach of Las Canteras; kitesurfing on Vargas Beach; or windsurfing on Pozo Izquierdo, at practically any time of the year.

Culture
Gran Canaria is filled with all sorts of cultural activities. Theatre, cinema, opera, concerts or dances are all regular happenings in the capital, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Different events are held throughout the year, such as the famous Carnivals between February and March; the Jazz Festival during the month of July; the ‘Te Mudas’ Theatre, Music and Dance Festival in summer; and San Agustín Beach is specifically the setting of the Maspalomas Costa Canaria Soul Festival, a free event that brings together a great many legends of soul year after year.
